Gabrielle Cliff Hodges

Gabrielle Cliff Hodges grew up in Oxfordshire and attended a Parents’ National Educational Union (PNEU) primary school in Banbury. She graduated in English Literature and Language from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne followed by a PGCE from Homerton College, Cambridge. She spent her entire career as a secondary English teacher in Cambridgeshire in three comprehensive schools, and then – as a teacher educator – at Homerton College, Cambridge (later part of the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education). During that time, she gained an MA in Language and Literature in Education and a PhD at the University of London Institute of Education. In 2016 she wrote Researching and Teaching Reading: Developing Pedagogy Through Critical Enquiry. It was while working on her PhD that she became interested in finding out more about the PNEU and its founder, Charlotte Mason.
